NFL Flag and Cheer
Our next generation is a top priority in the Rockford Park District. Youth and teens who are actively involved in positive recreational programs, volunteering, or working for the Rockford Park District have a greater chance of success.
About NFL Flag Football for Boys and Girls
When you donate to the Rockford Park District’s NFL Flag and Cheer programs, you are opening doors for youth and teens in our community. For over 20 years, the Rockford Park District has offered NFL Flag Football where skill level doesn’t matter. Players have fun and are physically active through non-contact, continuous action while learning football fundamentals and lessons in teamwork.
In 2022, the Rockford Park District was the first to start a Girls Flag Football program for high school students. Girls Flag Football is one of the fastest-growing sports nationally and in 2024, the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) announced Girls Flag Football is officially a sanctioned sport in Illinois. Recently, the Rockford Park District began a Middle School Girls Flag Football League, with 225 athletes participating in the inaugural season.
About Cheer and Dance
On the sidelines during several youth sports games are participants who take part in Rockford Park District’s Cheer and Dance programs. These programs develop a comprehensive blend of physical, mental, and social skills while cultivating critical life skills such as teamwork, discipline, confidence, and leadership. The Cheer and Dance programs run along with our NFL Flag Football leagues.
These programs are about more than touchdowns, they inspire sportsmanship, build friendships, and give youth and teens in our community a fun way to stay active, confident, and connected through sport.
Equipment, uniforms, tournament fees, travel expenses, etc. should never be a barrier for these participants. Donations help make sure finances don’t get in the way of experiences!
